    1) HCl has the greater concentration of H⁺ ions than HF.

    2) pH of HCl = 1.

    pH of HF = 2.1.

    Explanation:

    1) which solution has the greater concentration of H + ions?

HCl is completely ionized in the solution to produce H⁺ and Cl⁻.

    ∴ 0.1 M HCl has H⁺ concentration of (0.1 M).

    0.1 M of HF has H⁺ concentration of (7.9 x 10⁻³ M).

∴ HCl has the greater concentration of H⁺ ions than HF.

    2) Calculate pH values for the two solutions:

    ∵ pH = - log[H⁺]

    For 0.1 M HCl:

    [H⁺] = 0.1 M.

    ∵ pH = - log[H⁺]

    ∴ pH = - log[H⁺] = - log (0.1 M) = 1.

    For 0.1 M HF:

    [H⁺] = 7.9 x 10⁻³ M.

    ∵ pH = - log[H⁺]

    ∴ pH = - log[H⁺] = - log (7.9 x 10⁻³ M) = 2.1.
