Which statements are true concerning mineral formation? Check all that apply. The slower the cooling, the larger the crystals. The faster the cooling, the smaller the crystals. Crystals formed from magma are smaller than crystals formed from lava. Minerals can only form in solutions when the solution is heated deep underground. When a solution cools, elements and compounds leave the solution and crystallize as minerals. Minerals formed from hot water solutions can form narrow channels in the surrounding rock.

    The true statements are

The slower the cooling, the larger crystals are formed. The faster the cooling, the smaller crystals are formed. When a solution cools, elements and compounds leave the solution and crystalize as minerals. Crystals formed from lava are smaller than that of magma.

    Answer: Option (1), (2) and (6)

Explanation: The size of the crystals depend upon the rate of cooling. If the rate of cooling is fast, then it forms finer crystals and if the rate of cooling is slow then it forms bigger crystals.

Magma when comes out of the surface, is known as lava and it cools really fast and the crystals doesn't get proper time to form, so smaller crystals are formed from lava.

Minerals can form in any type of solution, but the compounds as well the elements doesn't leave the solution. And when they are carried by a small stream it produces a channel in the adjacent rock.

Thus the correct answers are 1, 2 and 6.
