A 50.0 mL sample of 6.0 M HCl was diluted to a final volume of 250.0 mL What was the new molarity?

    Explanation:

    Initial Volume 0.05L

    Final Volume 0.250L

    HCl Molar mass: 36.46 g/mol

    M = 6M HCl

    Molarity = mol solute / L of solution

    Inital M = Molarity = 6

    mol solute = X = unknown

    L of Solution = 0.05L

    6 = X / 0.05

    X = 0.3

    X = 0.3/0.25

    X = 1.2 M
