Glacial deposits of various ages have been found in Africa and in most other continents. This is because the continents move around the surface of the earth due to plate tectonics, and at some times the continent was situated close to one or other of the poles. Bear in mind, however, that at the time these deposits were made Africa was part of the larger supercontinent of Gondwana - glacial deposits of the same age are found in S. America and in India. There was an earlier glacial event as well, and traces of the so-called snowball earth event in the late Precambrian are found in Namibia. However, there are no glacial deposits in Africa that relate to the current ice-age.

Glaciers were found in Africa because continents were connected and party covered with snow near the south pole long ago.
