    HNO3 + NaOH - -> NaNO₃ + H₂O.

    The reaction is already balanced as the number of atoms of each element are equal on both reactants and products sides.

    Explanation:

    A Neutralization reaction is also called a Acid - Base Reaction.

    In a acid - base reaction an acid reacts with a base to form water and salt.

    Here HNO₃ is the acid and NaOH is the base.

    The Hydrogen (H) in HNO₃ combines with OH of NaOH and forms H₂O, i. e. Water.

    The Sodium (Na) in NaNO₃ combines with NO₃ in HNO₃ and forms NaNO₃ which is a Salt.

    Therefore, the products are H₂O and NaNO₃.

    This is a double replacement reaction because Hydrogen (H) in HNO₃ replaces Na in NaOH, and NO₃ in HNO₃ replaces OH in NaOH.

    Therefore there are two replacements and this is called double replacement reaction.

    HN03 + NaOH--> NaN03 + H20

    Explanation:

    Nitric acid (strong acid) reacts completely with sodium hydroxide (strong base) in a neutralization reaction (also called acid-base), giving as products: water and a salt (sodium nitrate).
