The rate of the reaction is measured to be 0.050 M / s when [H2] = 0.66 M and [NH3] = 0.88 M. Calculate the value of the rate constant. Round your answer to significant digits.

    Rate of reaction = k[H₂]²[NH3]¹

    reaction order in H₂ = 2

    reaction order in NH₃ = 1

    overall reaction order = 2 + 1 = 3

    the initial rate of reaction is 8.0 x 10³ M / s

    If the concentration of H₂ is doubled, rate of reaction will become 4 times because rate of reaction varies proportional to square of concentration of hydrogen.

    So rate of reaction becomes 32.0 x 10³ M / s

    Rate of reaction = k[H₂]²[NH3]¹

    By putting the values given,

    0.050 M / s = k. 66² x. 88

    k = 0.13.
