    The spring tide has nothing to do with the seasons. It is the time when there is a great tidal difference. It happens when both the moon and sun's gravitational pull is greatest, at the new moon (same side) or opposite sides (full moon).

    At the first and last quarter, when they oppose each other, the tidal difference is less and it is called, the neap tide.

    Note that there are several astronomical cycles including many factors like, the declination of the moon, that of the sun, etc. Because of that, some spring tides are extra high. Some cycles only happen every 4.5 years.
