    Hello!

    The proton is the most heavy component of an atom, for you see, eletrons have like 1/1700 the prontons mass. Just the number of eletrons can change the charge of an atom, when we have more protons than eletrons, the atom has positive value, when there are more eletrons than protons, we have a negative value. Neutrons have almost the same mass of protons and don't affect the charge.
