What would likely happen when the burning of fossil fuels releases gaseous nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxides into the atmosphere?

    Acid rain is likely to happen due to the oxides of Nitrogen and Sulfur. This is because these oxides go into the clouds to combine with atmospheric water vapor and then precipitate in the form of Sulfuric acid and Nitric acid.
