Which is true about the effusion rates of helium and sulphur dioxide when the molar mass of helium is 4 grams/mole and the molar mass of sulphur dioxide is 64 grams?

Sulphur dioxide effuses 4 times faster than helium.

Sulphur dioxide effuses 0.25 times faster than helium.

Helium effuses 0.25 times faster than sulphur dioxide.

    mv^2 is a conserved quantity

so v goes as sqrt (1/m)

    heavier is slower

    64/4 = 16

    sqrt (16) = 4

    B) and D) are both correct strictly speaking - lean towards submitting D) as answer

    so i would say D)
