If you have a dot diagram with 8 dots (4 pairs) what does that tell you about the element

    The element has a stable electron configuration, it posses 8 valence electrons in its valence or outermost shell, and because of this it is not able to react with any other atoms of their respective elements. As it does not need to, it already has a octet in its outer shell.
