How did the quantum mechanical model of the atom improve on bohr's atomic model?

The quantum mechanical model applies complex shapes of orbitals or electron clouds and bases on quantum theory. This model makes up for four quantum numbers to define the characteristic of each electron and its corresponding orbital. It also shows how it discharges energy from one state to the other.
