Does Sodium Chloride conduct electricity when solid? Must explain why.

    No. Sodium Chloride does not conduct electricity when in solid state because the positive and negative ions are locked in place and can not move freely.

    When dissolved in water, it breaks down into sodium and chloride ions, which can move freely and thus, salt water conducts electricity.
