    For me to explain this clearly, you will need to refer to a heating curve graph in google.

    If you refer to the graph, when a temperature is constant, the average kinetic energy also remains constant.

    But when the temperature rises, the average kinetic energy also increases.

    This is because when temperature increases, the particles are getting further from each other which when they are moving further, their kinetic energy increases. Thus, whenever there is an increase or decrease in temperature, it in turns increases or decreases average kinetic energy.
