    The area of the cell membrane is approximately

    A = π (100) ² / 4

    A = 7853.98 μm²

    Therefore, the amount of dye molecules needed is

    10 fluorescent molecules / μm ² (7853.98 μm²)

    = 78539.82 molecules of dye
