What is the percent by mass of oxygen in Fe2O3 (formula mass = 160) ?

    Well the periodic table shows the molar mass of oxygen to be 16. Since there are 3 oxygen atoms in Fe2O3, multiply by 3.

    Then you would simply divide to find percent. 48/160 and then multiply by 100 to get percent.
