The answer is proton-electron attraction. All chemical bonds whatever the type will end up in one single idea that protons attracts electrons. The protons in the nuclei of an atom attracts all electrons near, those that came with the atom itself and electrons of atoms nearby. The two atoms get closer and a chemical bond is formed.
