    Wherever the reaction happens, the energy will move and matter will stay the same

    In any reaction, energy and matter is always constant. It cannot be created nor destroyed. However, energy can transform from one form into another (eg Kinteic Energy or Potential Energy), and the same goes for matter in which atoms rearrange to form molecules or compounds.
