For each molecule of propane that burns, three molecules of carbon dioxide are produced. How many total oxygen atoms are in those molecules?

    C3H8 + 5O2 ⇔ 3CO2 + 4H2O; In each carbon dioxide molecule, there are two oxygen atoms. Because there are three CO2 molecules, there are (3x2) oxygen atoms.
