Why does diving 30m below sea level affect our bodies more than being in a building 30m above sea level?

    When diving 30m below sea level along with the atmosphere there will be a 30m thick layer of water on top of us which will also be exerting its pressure on us while on a 30m building there will be less air on top of us exerting its pressure on us.
