What is the formula for potassium sulfide?

    Having Sulfide in the chemical name for any compound means that it will have two Sulphur molecules, now add that with Potassium we get KS but since Sulfur has a valence of - 2, 2 Potassium atoms would be required to fill the valency and we get K₂S
