How can you change the number of molecules in a chemical equation

    You put a coefficient before the molecular formula, or multiply the coefficient already there by a number. For example, five molecules of carbon dioxide (CO2) would be 5CO2 (with the two as a subscript).

    In general, the mass should always be conserved in a chemical equation + reaction. If you'd like to balance them, however, you could add a coefficient in front of the formula.
