How can a lipid be distinguished from a sugar?

    By carrying out food test.

    1. Use ethanol to test for presence of lipid. Emulsion should be observed.

    2. Use benedict's reagent to test for presence of sugar. Blue solution should turned to brick red precipitate if the concentration of sugar is high.
