5.0 g of copper was heated from 20 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius. How much energy was used to heat Cu (specific heat capacity of Cu is 0.092 cal/g degrees Celsius)

    Energy (heat) = mass x specific heat x ΔT

    mass = 5.0 grams

    specific heat = 0.092 cal / g

    ΔT = 80 - 20 = 60 C

    heat = (5.0) (0.092) (60) = 27.6 cal
