Difference between graphing and scientific calculator

One main difference is that a graphing calculator can graph out functions while a scientific calculator cannot. There are some scientific calculations that have built-in table functions, but generally (and obviously) scientific calculators are not built to be able to graph. Graphing calculators have larger screens to accommodate for their eponymous use.

Furthermore, graphing calculators are usually more advanced. Because of the specifications needed (like RAM, processor) to be able to generate graphics, graphing calculators are able to support more sophisticated functions/features. Some graphing calculators have a computer-algebra system, like the TI-89 Titanium. Some support spreadsheets. Some even support programmable games. Some allow for connectivity with a computer to install new programs.

We have to consider another major difference: the price. Graphing calculations are way more expensive than scientific calculators. I believe this has to do with the history behind graphing calculators. For example, Texas Instruments basically holds a monolopy over graphing calculators. School keep using TIs because that is what they are familiar with.
