    In the LibreOffice Writer, we can start process of entering a date field by clicking on the Insert menu. We can choose to insert the current date which will be updated each time we open the document (dynamic date) or a static date which will not be updated.

    If our aim is to insert a dynamic date, we can follow the following steps:

    Click insert - > Fields - > Other and then click "Document" tab. Click "Date" in Type list. Click "Date" again in the Select list

    If we aims for a static date:

    Click insert - > Fields - > Other and then click "Document" tab. Click "Date" in Type list. Click "Date (fixed) " in the Select list
