    The microwave is generated by a device called magnetron which generates microwaves with a approx frequency of about 2.2 GHz or may vary have power in watts or killo-watts.

    The magnetron was developed during the world war 2 for the navigational purpose in the radar systems of military as it can generate a very high power microwave.

    This device is further used for the cooking purpose in the microwave ovens in which high power microwave flows through a wave-guide to the oven that heats the food inside it kept in the material of particular type which can absorb microwave. The use of metal vessel in the ovens is prohibited as they reflects the microwaves.
