"=" must be the first character when you are making a formula in excel

    Explanation:

Whenever you are working in excel the first character must be "=" when you are creating a formula.

For example if you wants to add value in column A1 and B1 then formula will be = A1+B1

You can set a default value of "=" by select the entire column for which you want to set a default value, and press "Ctrl-V", or select "Paste" from the "Edit" menu. This will apply the formula to each cell in the column. hence by writing a formula for a single column you can paste it in an entire column.
