Write the use of token in-case of ring or star topology, howit works?

Token is used in both the case of ring topology and star topology as token ring network is the local area network where computer are get connected in ring and star topology manner and exchange logical token from one host to another host.

Token ring used ring topology for sending data from computer to another in circular ring. It also uses token passing protocol so that there is no collision occurred and only one computer can use the network.

In start topology, all the computer devices are connected with single hub through a cable and token ring have the physical cable of the star topology. Using a hub and switches in the network improves reliability.
