Subnet refers to particular IP network, a group of IP addresses, such as 192.0.2.0/28. VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) refers to 802.1Q standard, when two or more ports are connected physically or grouped together in a network and each port has unique MAC address table, effectively separating them from each other. Subnet may be configured for VLAN and VLAN may transport one or more subnets.
