Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is a complete plan that involves the way to develop, maintain and replace specific software system. The cycle highlights seven phases.

Examples of how security can be instilled within the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC):

    1. At the fourth phase of the SDLC, a risk assessment should be done and a security plan developed during the development phase (fourth phase) of SDLC. The security plan should be categorized so that there are levels of security of different documents established based on sensitivity.

    2. As soon as the categorization is complete, the demands of security should be established and its security controls implemented.

    3. The fifth phase of the SDLC involves systems integration and system testing such as include security functional test plans, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing. This should be carried out as part of security procedures.

Two examples on what users may experience with software products if they are released with minimal security planning

    1. The user may experience loss of his personal information.

    2. The user may experience threat to his computer through the possibility of viruses and malwares breaching the minimal security.
