Calculate Original Oil in Place (OOIP). Suppose that from geological evidence it is known that the areal extent of an oil reservoir is 3 million sq. ft., the thickness of the pay zone (pay zone is the zone that contains producible hydrocarbons) is 40 ft., the porosity is equal to 30%, and Sw (water saturation) is 20%, and their is no Sg (free gas saturation).

    OOIP = 2137173.84 stb ... Ans

    Explanation:

    OOIP = 7758 * A * h * n * (1 - Sw) / Boi

    here A = area in acers, h = thickness in feet, n = porosity, Sw = water saturation,

    Boi = 1.05 + (N * 0.05) bbl/stb here V = A * h = 2754.8 feet3, N = 27

    OOIP = 7758 * 68.87 * 40 * 0.30 * (1 - 0.20) / (1.05 + (27 * 0.05))

    OOIP = 2137173.84 stb ... Ans
