Base oil permeability is capacity of the rock layer which transmit water, oil and other types of fluids. Effective oil permeability and the base permeability are the two concepts that are used to describe the situation in relative permeability to oil.

Permeability basically measure with a single fluid that are filling the pore space. Oil, water and gas are the three phase that are present in the permeability.

For example: By using the oil permeability we can measure the flow capacity with the presence of oil and water.

Measurement the permeability to oil with the presence of water saturation in the core.
