How does Chaucer's effectively use satire in the General Prologue? The narrator describes a range of characters. What devices does he use in his descriptions? Use at least three of the characters from the General Prologue in your response. Your answer should be at least 250 words.

    In "The General Prologue" to Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer makes use of satire in order to show the corruption in the church that was common in society. Chaucer describes almost all of the characters in a sarcastic manner, save for the Parson, who is considered to be a man of honor.
