    Answer and explanation:

    Hi!

Your question had a missing requirement, but by googing the question i found the book this was refering to.

The answer is that previously it was taught that soltitude was bad. Things that were collective are good ("we"), and things that were not are evil and do not exist (forbidden word, electricity, basically everything man ever invented until reinvented by the rules of this society like candles). Joy never truly existed in this society. Equality now believes that self should come first, and the the pursuit of one's own happiness will bring joy, and will bring ease to man's life along the way.
