Larry went to the hardware store and bought n boxes of 24 nails. Then, he used 34 nails to build a frame. Now, he has 62 nails left. How many boxes of nails did Larry buy in all?

    Explanation:

    Since the number of initial nails is

    Initial number of nails = n boxes * 24 nails/box

    Then

    number of remaining nails = initlal nails - nails spent

    62 = n*24-34

    n = (62+34) / 24 = 4 boxes

    Therefore he bought 4 boxes
