The answer is: the adulterous party (John)

    Explanation:

I've heard many talks about someone being disloyal to their spouses and yet blaming "a little" to the spouse, for being distant, bad-tempered, among others.

However, being disloyal is a decision. Why not try to talk to your spouse first? Why not letting her know that your feelings aren't the same as before? That just demonstrates a lack of communication between the couple and obviously the cowardice for being adulterous, rather than talking or simply breaking up with the relationship. On the other hand, the counterpart although has a lack of moralty and self-esteem for being with someone who's already in a relationship, she would have never gotten there, if John hadn't "open the doors" for her.
