Chapter 7 of this book tells us about the hard and long process of her becoming a judge in the District Court in New York. We also get familiar with the the US Court system and her feelings when she was elected a judge in 1990s.

However, the main part of this chapter is the description of her first big case, a major league baseball players' strike. The strike had already lasted 7 months and the competition was jeopardized.
