A submarine at a depth of 800 m sends a sonar signal and receives the reflected wave back from a similar submerged object in 15 s.

Estimate the distance to the other object.

    Answer: this is hardly worth the trouble but basically one way distance / u2248 a / u394t/2 = 1457 (15/2) / u2248 10900m

    Explanation:

    it probably makes little difference but estimated at depth 800 meters, p=101350 + 1025 (9.81) (800) = 8.15E6 Pa = 80.4 atm p/pa = 80.4 = 3001 ... : /
