Read the poem "If We Must Die" by Claude McKay. If we must die-let it not be like hogsHunted and penned in an inglorious spot, While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursed lot. If we must die-oh, let us nobly dieSo that our precious blood may not be shedIn vain; then even the monsters we defyShall be constrained to honor us though dead! Oh, Kinsmen! We must meet the common foe; Though far outnumbered, let us still be brave, And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow! What though before us lies the open grave? Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack, Pressed to the wall, dying, but-fighting back! What sentence best conveys the speaker's message? A. Nature is more powerful than man. B. Victory is unlikely when one is outnumbered. C. There is honor in dying courageously. D. Nonviolence is the only way to prevent bloodshed

The best answer to the question: What sentence best conveys the speaker's message? Would be, C: There is honor in dying courageously.

    Explanation:

"If We Must Die" is a poem that was written by author Claude McKay and it was first published in 1919 in The Liberator. The poem was written by McKay in response to the attacks that took place against African American people by white Americans during the period known as the Red Summer. The poem attempts precisely to encourage African Americans to not let white Americans abuse them, hurt them and kill them simply because of who they are, he calls them to fight back, to give their all for the defense of their race, even if they are outnumbered and outpowered by white people. In the end, when he says things like "What though before us lies the open grave? Like men we'll face the murderous, cowardly pack ... " McKay is telling African Americans to not fear, even if the end is death, because if they fight back corageously: " ... oh, let us nobly die. So that our precious blood may not be shed in vain; then even the mosters we defy Shall be constrained to honor us thhough dead!".
