What is ironic about Lucifer's words to Faustus?

So shalt thou shew thyself an obedient servant,

And we will highly gratify thee for it.

Faustus never receives compensation for the works he did in service to Lucifer.

Faustus considers himself to be the master of Mephistophilis and the dark arts

There is nothing ironic about the words
