The central idea of Abraham Lincoln's speech is slavery. Abraham Lincoln branches into different conflicts with slavery, such as how it shouldn't spread to the north, and how it caused the civil war. "Fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray, that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away." He encourages the abolishment of slavery and a sort of negotiation towards peace and agreement.

Lincoln presidency left a legacy of ideals for our nation to live up to - equality, freedom and democracy. The powerful words of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address sought to transmit these ideals into future generations. The exhibition ends by asking visitors whether we as a nation have been faithful to this legacy.
