Read the paragraph. Max the book of poetry

aside. Even though he had read it twice, the poems made

little sense to him. Why couldn't people just say what they

meant, without resorting to flowery language and loopy

sentences? He rubbed his eyes, gave himself a minute to

calm down, and then found the book, where it had landed

underneath the bed. "OK, third time's the charm," he said

as he started reading again. What verb best completes

the sentence? flung hurled tossed threw

Hurled. Max was clearly frustrated about the book because he felt that there should be fewer words to explain the same thing that was being portrayed in the book. As he was trying to comprehend what he was reading, he became upset and hurled the book which landed under his bed. Max found the book after calming himself down and regaining his composure and continued reading even though this was his 3rd time reading this book.
