Proxemics deal with the study of human space, the amount of space that people feel neccessary to set between themselves and others, and the effect the population has on social interactions.

The four zones are:

Intimate distance - embracing, touching, whispering, involves close touch

Personal distance - interactions between family and/or close friends.

Social distance - mostly interactions between acquaintances.

Public distance - like the name implies, used for public speaking.
