Describe a few characteristics of Ancient literature presented in our course. Illustrate those characteristics with specific detail from either The Iliad or Oedipus the King.

    Answer: the three most common characteristics of ancient literature is

    A. Drama

    B. Prose

    C. Poetry.

    Drama is defined as a type of literature which is to be performed in front of an audience. It may be composed of poetry and even prose.

    Prose is defined as a literature which is made up of common language.

    Poetry is more composed and structured. It has rhythm and rhymes for a dramatic or aesthetic effect.

    The Iliad is set in an ancient time that is an archaic period. The iliad tells a recount of the seige of Troy which lasted for a whole decade. While the Odyssey recounts the homeward return of Odysseus the king. These are narrative poems which give a detailed narrative of happened in both occurrences.

    Explanation: The iliad and the Odyssey are well known, important and highly regarded works of history. They are set in ancient times.
