    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, being the African American leader advocating civil rights.

    Explanation:

    Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born in 1929 in Atlanta, thence, studied Theology doctorate by 1955. After to which, organized his first protest, being influenced by M. K. Gandhi, as Montgomery Bus Boycott.

    Racial segregation was highly advocated against by him in his protest as civil disobedience with non violence. Later, his orator ship gained him the support.

    March towards Washington was his next move, in 1963, and a year later, 24th amendment was ratified and Civil Rights Act was codified and enacted.

    in the same year of 1964, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in the month of October.
