Aron Ralston's autobiography, Between a Rock and a Hard Place tells a most extraordinary survival story. Aron's story starts out as a simple hike in the Utah canyons. He is an experienced twenty-seven year old outdoorsman looking to commune with nature on a warm Saturday afternoon. A few hours into the hike, Aron slips while climbing a boulder and becomes wedged between the canyon wall and an 800 pound rock. His arm is trapped and the chances of escape are slim to none. He realizes with horror he is going to die alone so he begins video taping his good-byes to his friends and family. On the fifth day of his entrapment Aron commits the most extreme act imaginable to save his life.
