    Upon the birth of their child, Catherine dies. Edgar was deeply in love with Catherine. In order to express his love for her, he buried her in an open uncultivated upland (moors) which she always wanted. He also took care of Cathy (their daughter) very well and raise her in good social manners. This was how Edgar differed from Hindley.

    On the contrary, when Hindley's wife (Frances) died, Hindley became alcoholic. He was always in misery. As a father, he was very strict and he couldn't understand children very much.
