    Probably the assumption that police reports and newspeper articles are following the same logical structure is true; probably they're not missing out when it comes to chronological order, presenting (when known, then applied) the cause and effect type of approach in order to develop a problem solving strategy.

    Comparing an activity police report with an article talking about the development of the market trades in the Economist, one would probably notice a very similar approach but if compared to a fashion magasine then the so called " comparison - Contrast" type of approach may differ quite a bit.

    Assuming we're talking about structures of articles / reports we shouldn't emphasise too much on the (logical) techniques used to proove a fsct / a result / a theory
