This excerpt is from 'The Wives of the Dead'.

    Explanation:

The story is about two young women who marry two brothers. Tragically both the men die. Mary is more disciplined in her emotions, Margaret is more agitated and always irritated. Both their husbands die and they both feel that they would mourn alone and feel relieved when the guests leave. Mary prepares a meal and eats but Margaret is too depressed to eat anything. Mary falls asleep, letting go of her grief but Margaret stays awake the whole night.
